Natural zeolites form where volcanic rocks and ash layers react with alkaline groundwater. These zeolites have an "open" or “cage-like” structure that attract and hold a wide variety of cations (positively-charged ions which have fewer electrons than protons) that attract and hold for excretion toxins and pollutants (such as heavy metals) in the body.

The benefits of zeolites have long been known in manufacturing, where purified zeolites have been used to extract odors and maintain environmental purity.  Trilogy stresses the importance of “purified” zeolites, because naturally occurring zeolites are rarely pure and are contaminated to varying degrees by other minerals, which the zeolite structure has attracted and held.  Just as with the Trilogy OBEE™—which is purified by burning Red Oak Bark into ash—Trilogy zeolites are purified through a proprietary process.
